Sales Secrets From America's Richest Panhandlers

[ad_1]

What is the main difference between a successful panhandler and a broke businessman?

It is an intriguing question, to say the least. Armed with nothing but my curiosity, I wanted to find out if the panhandlers in my city were nothing but conniving sales people in disguise or truly down on their luck like their signs proclaimed.

I say conniving because of two separate experiences I encountered.

One late afternoon I witnessed a man in his 30s holding up a sign that read, "Homeless. Please help. I'm not fakeing."

Even though he spelled the last word wrong I was not concerned with his grammar, but rather the hidden message he was implying. Was it true that some of the panhandlers in my city were misleading my fellow commuters? Were they really homeless?

The second incident was captured by happenstance. While I was waiting for the left hand turn signal to change to green I glanced in my side mirror and saw something that caught me off guard. A married panhandler couple (the sign said so) changed their facial expressions from somber to carefree as soon as they walked past the last car in line. I could see them laughing about something as they walked back toward the light. Just moments before when they walked by my car their faces were drawn down and heavy with agony.

Were they playing the part of cunning sales people or were they truly in need? A couple days later I witnessed the same change in facial expressions – and I caught them in the act many more times. It was almost as if I had a new game to play when I was stuck at the light where they "worked."

Now, I would like to clarify something before I continue. I am not suggesting in any way that this couple – or any other panhandler in my town – is not in need. Nor am I suggesting that all panhandlers are out to con you out of your money. I am just reporting what I have seen, and trying to make sense of it in the grand scheme of things.

Some panhandlers make more in a year than some college grads

Have you ever wondered how much the panhandlers in your town earn on a given day or week or year? For decades, news anchors, reporters and city councilmen have tried to follow the paper trail. At the other end of the spectrum, some behavioral psychologists have tried to determine what makes a person hand over spare change.

Let's look at the first issue, the issue of earnings. Suffice it to say, a large majority of recent college grads are settling for lower paying jobs outside their chosen field. Retailers, large box chains, restaurants, department stores are just a few of the industries 20-somethings are settling for. Because most colleges do not require students to enroll in a business course (say for example a course on how to become an entrepreneur) graduates have no idea how to start a business of their own as a failsafe. So, they settle for a $ 10 hr. job or struggle to find themselves while they wait tables into their 30s.

Meanwhile, the panhandlers in my neck of the woods are raking in anywhere between $ 20 a day up to $ 60 (not including food and clothing items) with no skill set whatsoever. I know how much they make because I actually asked a few of them. And we've all heard of the window washers that hang out under the bridges in New York's boroughs that make $ 50K per annum.

The reason they make so much is because they have exposed a kink in people's emotional armour. The rule of reciprocity states that one shall return a favor that was done unto he. If you wipe my windows I must repay you – even if I did not ask for it! You see reciprocity playing out in all lines of business every day. "Sign up for my newsletter and I'll give you a FREE gift." "Fill out this survey and you'll get a FREE gift." So on and so on.

Panhandlers do not work corners; they work emotions

People in sales could learn a thing or two just by watching panhandlers work a corner. For instance, have you ever noticed the long hours some panhandlers work? The law of averages dictates that you get whatever you put into something. So … chances are if Mr. Panhandler is on the corner for 8 hours every day he is bound to run into a handful of people who will "feel sorry" for him.

At the end of the day, people are still people. And that means you are dealing with emotions. I admit it … the more I see panhandlers the more I become immune to their plight (kinda like the way I ignore billboards). I am not their customer. But that's not to say there are not people out there who will not continue to give time and time again. Panhandlers know their livelihood depends on touching emotions.

The lesson is this: The more you touch people's emotions the more you will sell. It does not matter if you are selling scented dryer sheets or dry ice. People identify with anger, happiness, sadness, hope, frustration, fear and so on. Find out which emotional hot buttons your product or service "touches" and do what panhandlers do: act upon what you know.

Broke businessmen do not understand people

How can someone who is human not be able to identify with humans? Sounds like an oxymoron. Well, when it comes to sales, the graveyard is littered with ego-centric, ignorant businessmen who think they know everything. Of course, no one knows everything.

Is not it funny how the course of one's life can change in an instant? It begins with a spark, that curious nature of ours that yearns to learn more. Discovery leads to a heightened awareness of our surroundings. Information and knowledge are waiting to be discovered around every turn. Open your eyes and look around. You never know what you may see.

Osteopathy As a Top Health Care Career Choice

[ad_1]

What is Osteopathic Health Care?

The health profession of Osteopathy (founded in 1874 by Dr. Andrew Taylor Still in the USA) is an established internationally recognized manual medicine system of diagnosis and treatment, which lays its main emphasis on the structural and functional integrity of the musculoskeletal system.

Osteopathic health practitioners use a variety of hands-on physical treatments. These include soft tissue techniques, joint mobilization & manipulation, muscle energy treatment and functional (strain and counter strain) techniques. These techniques are normally employed together with exercise, dietary, and occupational advice in an attempt to help patients recover from pain, disease and injury.

There are two types of osteopaths. European style Osteopaths (also known as osteopathic manual practitioners, manual osteopaths, traditional osteopaths & classical osteopaths) do not prescribe medications or perform surgery, while American style osteopaths (also known as osteopathic physicians) perform surgery and prescribe medications as well as using osteopathic techniques in managing a patient's condition.

Osteopathy as a Career Choice

Osteopathic health care is one of the most complete health care systems in the world. It is a distinctive form of medical practice. The practice of manual osteopathy utilizes all available modern manual medicine techniques to assess injury and diseases of muscles, bones, joints and nerves. It also offers the added benefit of hands-on diagnosis and treatment through a system of therapy known as osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM). Osteopathic manual practitioners understand how all the body's systems are interconnected and how each one affects the others. They focus special attention on the musculoskeletal system, which reflects and influences the condition of all other body systems.

Osteopathy is the fastest growing health care profession in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Argentina, South Korea, Japan, China, India, Iran & Europe. The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) in a report released in December 2012 and published by the Toronto Star; titled "the Top 25 Occupations in Demand" included manual osteopathy in # 13 of the occupations in demand in Canada.

The average salary for a new manual osteopathy graduate who works as an employee in a health or rehab clinic is generally between $ 30 to $ 40 per hour in Europe, Australia, Caribbean and North America and $ 10 to $ 20 in Asia, Latin America and Africa. Manual osteopaths in private osteopathic practice generally charge between $ 90 to $ 140 per hour of treatment in Europe, North America, Australia & Caribbean and $ 20 to $ 60 per hour in Asia, Latin America & Africa.

For patients injured in a motor vehicle related accident in Ontario (Canada) all auto insurers cover osteopathic treatments at the rate of $ 53.66 per hour as per fee guideline set by Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO).

The average income of manual osteopaths in Canada and USA is $ 90,000 per year. In Australia it is $ 78,000 and in United Kingdom (UK) it is 58,000 Euro. The average income of American style osteopathic physicians varies greatly as it depends on the speciality they practice. It is $ 161,000 to $ 576,000 per year.

There is virtually no unemployment in this health care profession. Almost all European style osteopaths find employment within a few months upon graduation.

European style osteopaths are found worldwide. There are approximately 4500 osteopaths in United Kingdom (UK), 1500 manual osteopaths in Canada, 1000 manual osteopaths in Brazil and 67,000 doctors of osteopathic medicine in the USA, and a few thousands more spread around the world in countries such as Australia, New Zealand , Panama, Colombia, China, Iran, India, South Korea, Japan, Greece, South Africa, Singapore, Vietnam, Venezuela, Latvia, St Martin, Barbados, Jamaica, Bermuda, Costa Rica, Mexico, Russia, Ukraine, Argentina, Pakistan , Israel, Austria, Germany, Portugal, Italy, and Netherlands amongst others. Nearly half of them are women.

The number of osteopaths worldwide has increased exponentially in the past few years largely due to National Academy of Osteopathy making the diploma program in osteopathy available to students worldwide through an online method of education.

Where do Osteopaths work?

European style Osteopaths have the option of opening their own manual osteopathy clinics; or to rent rooms in established medical, health or rehab clinics and benefit from cross referrals; or to work as employees in other osteopathic, medical, chiropractic, physiotherapy, athletic therapy, massage or rehab clinics.

Most osteopathic manual practitioners work in private osteopathy clinics, often as sole proprietor, associate or employee. However, the increase in multidisciplinary health care facilities and physical rehabilitation clinics in Canada, USA, Australia & United Kingdom has opened new opportunities for osteopathic manual practitioners to collaborate with other health care professionals (such as family physicians, chiropractors, registered massage therapists, naturopaths , athletic therapists, kinesiologists, podiatrists, chiropodists, occupational therapists, ergonomists, and physiotherapists) and benefit patients with interprofessional care. A small numbers of osteopaths also work in hospitals, nursing homes, health spas, sports teams, insurance companies claims services department, fitness clubs, osteopathic colleges, motor vehicle accident (MVA) assessment centres and other institutions.

Most new graduates start their professional work as employees. Later they establish their own private clinics.

Becoming an Osteopath

To become an osteopath one must graduates from an accredited osteopathic school, college or university. The programs vary in length and diplomas and degrees offered. The diploma programs are generally between 1000 to 2000 hours and the degree programs between 3000 to 4500 hours. The time it takes to graduate depends on the osteopathy program and ranges from 4 months to 4 years.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends 4200 hours (4 years) of osteopathic education for students without previous health education and 1000 hours (1 year) for students with previous health education. However WHO guideline is voluntary and not mandatory. It is not a requirement to follow the WHO guideline. Some osteopathic schools follow the WHO guideline voluntarily.

Osteopathic Care & Treatments

A number of researches have shown patients who have low back pain of mechanical origin are most satisfied with osteopathic treatments.

Dr. Lee Choi, MD, an osteopathy student of National Academy of Osteopathy has completed a research project as his thesis towards the investigative project requirement of course TH 980 of the diploma in manual osteopathy program.

Dr. Choi's research analysed 100 patients' response to low back pain treatments performed by manual osteopaths, registered massage therapists, chiropractors, physiotherapists, acupuncturists and physicians.

Patients who received European style osteopathic treatment had the highest rate of satisfaction with their treatments, followed by chiropractic, massage therapy, physiotherapy, acupuncture and medicine.

Over 95% of the patients surveyed who received osteopathic treatments indicated great satisfaction with their treatments, followed by 91% who received chiropractic treatments, 86% by those who received massage therapy, 75% by those who received physiotherapy, 60% by those who received acupuncture and 30% by those who received medical care for their low back pain.

This research confirms result of previous research indicating that patients favor manual osteopathy treatment above all other available treatments for low back pain of mechanical origin and that osteopathy is the number one health care system of choice for them whenever they suffer from low back pain.

5 Advantages to Outsourcing Web Development Service to Costa Rica

[ad_1]

First, 95% of the population is literate. Early in the 20th Century, Costa Rica abolished it's military in favor of education. The country now boasts some of the most educated people in Latin America. In college, modern web technologies such as PHP, Javascript, MySQL, Unix, IIS, Apache, MS SQL, and.net are as common as they are in the United States. In fact, software licenses for products from companies like Sun, Microsoft, and Adobe for foreign workers can also be much cheaper.

Second, there is a multitude of workers now able to work for a much lower wage than their US counterparts. Costs for equivalent labor in the US are usually less than 50%. Also, continuing education and technical certification is proportionally less expensive. Payroll taxes, Social Security Taxes, UI Taxes, and the the multitude of laws covering US employees simply does not exist in Costa Rica at the same level of complexity, thereby reducing the drain on human resources.

Third, Costa Rica is on Central Time which puts it at the center of working hours of US counterparts. 2am phone calls to Pakistan can be a thing of the past. For those times when you have daytime emergencies or programming that needs to be done by close-of-business, this is a fantastic benefit. There is also no jet lag to deal with when flying in and out of the country.

Fourth, in Costa Rica, there are a lot few opportunities, unlike in America where there the level of open technical jobs vastly exceeds that of this country. This makes it more likely that your employees will form a dependence on your company, and allow you to hold on to them as long as needed. A majority of the country's population is centered in San Jose, a major hub. And that's not going to change anytime soon.

Lastly, Costa Rica is only a three -hour flight from Houston and Miami. If you have workers in San Jose, you can meet with them faster than flying to many parts of the United States. Business Class hotels are are dotted across the country. In fact, traveling to here is often not only faster, but also less expensive than traveling to another state. Nearly all of these locations have access to high-speed internet and cellular service, making communication seamless.

For all of these reasons, it's apparent why Costa Rica should be at the top of your list when looking to outsource technical labor. Not to mention, it's a fantastic place to visit.

You Would Be Surprised at the High Level of Coaching on American Football Teams in Europe

[ad_1]

In John Rosenberg's 40 years as a football coach, he has succeeded at every level. He is a man of many talents and interests; John is also a writer, an inventor, a radio broadcaster, a traveler and much else besides. Nevertheless, football is his passion and he has become one of the finest American football coaches in Europe. In his 16 seasons of coaching in Europe he has compiled an 80% winning record both as a head coach and coordinator for clubs in Germany and Italy. He laid the foundation for this with an outstanding college coaching career.

Growing up in Boston John graduated from Harvard and then obtained his Masters degree in Education at Penn State, where he launched his coaching career spending 11 years under the tutelage of the legendary Penn State head coach, Joe Paterno.

Those seasons under one of the greatest college coaches of all time taught him a great deal with memories that will remain a lifetime. While at Penn State, he coached in 11 bowl games including two national championship games. In 1982, he helped Penn State win its first national championship defeating the University of Georgia (with Herschel Walker) in the Sugar Bowl. However, he admits that one of his most satisfying experiences was coaching against Dan Marino in Marino's final game at Pitt before heading to the Miami Dolphins.

"I was coaching the defensive secondary and we fell behind 14-0 in the first quarter under Marino's passing attack," said Rosenberg. "But Coach Paterno convinced us to remain patient and stick to our plan, and gradually we turned the game around, winning 48-14 while picking off five Marino passes."

Following Penn State, John took over as head coach at Brown University in 1984 and led them to three straight winning seasons including a 7-3 record in 1987. He left in 1990 to pursue other interests. In 1994 he was enticed to return to coaching full time, this time in Europe. At the urging of an old friend John accepted the job as head coach of the Munich Thunder in the newly-formed Football League of Europe. He guided the team to the championship final in that first season. A key factor was his ability to attract former Notre Dame star QB and Heisman trophy runner-up Tony Rice to the team.

Since then, he has returned to Europe to coach every season but three. He enjoys the lifestyle which allows him to spend five or six months at home, which means both Boston, and Los Angeles, and then six to seven months coaching in Europe. As head coach, or defensive coordinator of teams ranging from the Cologne Crocodiles to the Bergamo Lions, John has reached either the German or Italian finals almost every year but three.

One of his most memorable games was the 2002 German championship when, as coach for the Hamburg Blue Devils, he guided the team to a major upset over the perennial champions, the Braunschweig Lions who were undefeated until that game. He engineered an amazing turnaround when he assumed command of the Munich Cowboys in 2007, after the team had dropped to the very bottom of Division 2 in Germany. In one season he turned a 1-12 squad into a 14-0 undefeated team the next year advancing the team to the first division again.

This year John finds himself in Plattling, a small town in southeast Germany (Bavaria) with a population of about 20,000. The Plattling Blackhawks play in Germany's top division and John likes the attitude of the club and the fan support.

"The club president has developed good sponsors which has helped in recruiting," he says. "For a small town like this to be represented in one of the best football leagues in Europe is remarkable."

Rosenberg has no plans to retire. And why should he? He gets to coach football, enjoy Europe and still get back to enjoy football in North America and all his other interests as well.

[ad_1]

African American Studies BOOKS Talk, Dr. Johnnetta Cole and Dr. Beverly Guy-Sheftall argue that in the 21st century We must deal with issues of sexism with racism in the African American community to the community to fully succeed.

Dr. Cole President of Bennett College in Greensboro, North Carolina. She is president emerita of Spelman College Professor Emerita of Anthropology Women’s Studies and African American Studies at Emory University. A nationally known African-American feminist intellectual, he is the author of several books, including conversations: Sister Straight Talk America president.

Beverly Guy-Sheftallis Professor Anna Julia Cooper Women’s Studies and English, and the Director of the Women’s Research and Resource Center Spelman College. He is the editor of Fire Words : Anthology of African-American feminist thought and the co-editor (Rudolph Byrd) The Traps: African-American men in gender and sexuality in many other publications.

They examine the historical conflict, racial and gender issues in the black community, the impact of feminism, the role of the Black Church, attitudes about sexuality and popular culture, such as hip-hop. The authors argue that with courage, without attention to these questions can not be a lasting solution to the community in many racial problems. They argue that the impact of sexism on the oppression of black women, including male domination within black communities.

relying on excellent personal testimonies, both previously published autobiographies and interviews collected specifically for research of the history of the entire book, Black Talk gender feminist struggles and debates until now. This is necessary because a black audience, male and female, was not willing to win the feminist arguments on the grounds that the experiences of victims of racism blacks relieve the willing participation of the sins of patriarchy.

Cole and Guy-Sheftall managed to deflect the issue, effectively drawing black men and women with a frank discussion about how gender inequality affects the entire African-American community. Gender Talk discusses the passion, the process by which black community arrived at the current situation, where 54 percent of black children live in single parent families, mostly 68 per cent controlled and less well-off by female-headed households African-American child is born, 47 percent of married mothers with 29 percent of the prison population who are confined to a mental institution is black. Many black men emerge from prison with HIV and “the down low” (a secret sex with other men), passing the disease to an unsuspecting black women and black gay men.

way magnificently built argued chapters of the book are some of the more commercial forms of hip-hop culture involved in the misogynistic brainwashing the youth and the difficulties of life as a gay man or lesbian is largely intolerant black community. He also speaks of the long-standing problem of violence against women in Black communities, Back to Church role in supporting homophobia and the black power movement opposed to black feminist movement.

section was not respected: No policy and Hip-Hop, discusses the mental damage done to young Africans – American males and females because misogynic lyrics of rap music. There was a war brewing between black men and women that began in the sixties and is still going on in the new millennium. The atmosphere of the misogynic there is no tension helped hip-hop that black men and women, especially among young people.

Over the last fifteen years, hip-hop has become a misogynistic and disrespectful of black girls and women than other popular music genres, and it’s sad because hip-hop is an African-American artwork. The occasional references to sex and violence in other forms, and soft-porn visuals and messages of many rap music videos have been burned into the consciousness of young black boys and girls, and that’s why I’ve seen boys as young as ten years old, referring to the girls and women like nothing bottoms whores and bitches young girls, referring themselves.

section by Black, Lesbian, and Gay: Speaking the Unspeakable moving testimonies of these important cultural figures such as poets Audre Lorde Joseph Beam and novelist Samuel Delany. Cole and Guy-Sheftall explore the history of African and African-American homosexuality, an anthropologist from Ife Amadiume study, Male Daughters, Female Husbands: Gender and Sex in African society (1987).

Amadiume showed that homosexual relationships existed in Africa before colonization. Marriage between a woman-to-woman were not uncommon in some African kinship systems before colonization. Cole and Guy-Sheftall discusses that many African cultures, same-sex intimacy was equal to heterosexuality. America, sexual relationships between slaves in the 17th century was in New York, is more complex than previously thought. New evidence suggests that both consensual and forced sex slaves took place in the men and rape the boys in black and white masters.

He also discussed the down low brothers, black men who are gay, but pretend to be heterosexual and black women who kept secret in the world that married black gay men, even if these people them and their unborn children at risk of HIV. Professors Cole and Guy-Sheftall feel that as long as the church, which has historically been the backbone of the African-American community, intolerant of other forms unless sexuality heterosexual blacks continue to be in denial and AIDS is still a delightful family.

The most disturbing matter for me personally the subject of the book Black America’s insensitivity to the issue of violence against black women. They rallied around the African-American community, Mike Tyson and R. Kelly, both men accused of sex crimes. In both cases, the victims are blamed and unclean trying to get to a black man. The professors asked the question: “What makes the black men think they can be born and raised in culture, which is a deep contempt for women, and place the woman in black at the bottom, and escape will not affect” Too often, the black men trying to fit themselves tired of the white patriarchal modes of behavior that is destructive of the whole community. You can not rape, beat or humiliate someone into submission. Sooner or later, you can strike back.

The research this book during the summer and fall of 1999, Cole and series 4-6 hour interviews conducted Sheftall prominent black intellectuals and activists, asking them questions about what they saw as the most pressing issues of gender black community. Participants were Manning Marable, director of the Institute for Research in African American Studies at Columbia University, Calvin Butts Minister in New York Abyssinian Baptist Church, Rudolph Byrd, director of African American Studies at Emory University and Elaine Brown, former chairman of the Black Panther Party .

He also performed a weekend long discussion session of the Ford Foundation on November 19, 1999, participants imidazo Dixon Diallo, president of Sister Love, Inc., the first and largest women’s AIDS organization in the southeast, James early, writer and director of cultural heritage policy at the Smithsonian, Calvin Hernton, Professor emeritus at Oberlin College, a sociologist bell hooks and Haki Madhubuti, founder and publisher of third world Press.

In particular, the chapters with Say: Conversations brothers greatly rely on this material collected directly interview multilogue participants, producing a number of short stories describing what it was like to grow up in the Black family ruled by patriarchy. Many pay tribute to the ways in which resisted and was taught the children that men and women are equal parents.

For example, Ruby Sales, a former civil rights activist who grew up in the south describes his father “atypical” that he was “hanging out clothes, wash, iron, cook, and Saturday is my mother would say,” Mrs. Breakfast Sales to you, I will now do everything “My mother is not dinner for us; my father was the cook in the family, so my brothers did the same thing my father braided our hair and divorced sister braids her daughter’s hair…”

However, some of the best testimonies were “ordinary” African-American women. The black women see every day trains to get to work or college. Audree Irons, administrative assistant Spelman College, talks about the strong women in her family who will always keep, despite all the hardships that come your way. “Men leave, you keep going I do not miss a beat as soon them is basically the attitude my mother and my grandmother was so it was like we discard them like garbage, and you just keep going;…. Believed that the role of the male and female, if necessary. “

I could really relate to that passage in the book. So many of my friends are emotionally and physically abusive relationship, and they can not find the courage within themselves alone. They really believe that it is better to live than to be alone, and it’s absolutely crazy. These women do not even realize that sometimes to get stronger, a woman must stand alone and take care of herself.

member of the Black Panther Elaine Brown explains that the Black Panther men thought of the female participants’ clever girls “who may require silence. “A woman was held in the Black Power movement, best irrelevant. A woman claiming himself a pariah. Angela Davis is out of the Black Panthers, because he refused to bow to the man in the group. A woman tries on the role of leadership alliance with the” counterrevolutionary, man-hating, lesbian, feminist white female. This violates the principle of some Black Power, which is not defined. “Reading that impressed,? How the Black Panthers stupid enough to throw away one of the most intelligent and articulate individuals to come out of the Civil Rights Movement just because you had the guts to stand up for itself

In the same mentality still exists among some black men today. When a black woman strong, assertive, he is regarded as the “Angry Bitch” who does not know his place. he did not think to articulate his thoughts anyway, because it’s not important. as long as this kind of mentality exists in the African-American community, can never be unity. it takes a village to raise a child with, and if the village is at war with each other, what happens to the children?

This is a review that I found it was this book, Denise Simon, a contributing Black issues in the direction of the magazine African-Americans. He felt that the sex talk more of an overview of sexism, such an analysis. I do not agree with this review, because the authors were clear, concise, why discussions are not critical to African Americans. This book is an excellent analysis of sexism among blacks and maybe he was negative, because the truth hurts sometimes.

If something is wrong with this book, there is little discussion of black women who keep sexism alive. I know too many sisters who have no problem labeling another woman a slut or a whore in order to make themselves look good in the eyes for some people. We as African-American women have to stick together in order to raise our children because some of us do alone. We can not allow pettiness and during the race of men destroyed the community.

Even this error, Gender Talk That is a wonderful book. It’s entirely successful for the intended purpose, which was to light even a bona fide fool to understand the urgency of gender issues. The gender is influenced by the African-American community, and this book manages to explore all aspects.

Newspaper Reading Language students

[ad_1]

The Khmer student wrote to me on YouTube and asked me to produce a video on how to read English-language newspapers.

“I would like to ask whether the videos, how to read a newspaper and translate from English to Khmer. Khmer and I was a problem to understand English terms.” Written by a student.

Language Learners often write to tell for certain subject areas or zones where their lives difficulty understanding and ask your trick or a guide to help them learn.

As I have said a number of other language learning products are no tricks and tips do not. invest more hours, the better. And if the goal is to be read by a native speaker, you need to read about things in the mother tongue. If a 22-year-old university graduate, you will have to read at this level in a foreign language. And then there will not read the language textbooks. You get over there to read articles and textbooks instead of the language.

If we analyze the latest e-mail, the student says, wrong reading, and he specifically singled newspapers.

Obviously, reading is reading. not reading the newspaper at some level other than reading, or read a new short story.

If you are reading novels and short stories, you should be able to read the papers. When I asked this student, but he probably can not read a novel in a month in English. If he is reading newspapers is just coming.

Therefore, the problem is not reading the papers or, per se. The problem is the lack of practice.

never took, of course, the so-called “newspaper reading” in English. I started reading newspapers. And first, I had to learn to handle the language, structure and organization of newspaper writing, but no one taught you, you are. It just came to us. The same was the case with German or Spanish newspapers I read almost as well as English. No one taught, or taught Gunther Pablo or just come to practice.

One point that I have made many articles is that when you start to learn a foreign language, you are not an idiot. Not from an empty bed. One reason is that it takes three years to learn the mother tongue of the babies is because they are learning, our language and how language works. You know all this and much more. Babies do not know that there is such a thing as grammar. Each piece of vocabulary to learn. A seven-year-old does not know the “population, economy, government, referendum currency” in his native tongue. So, it would be difficult for him to read a foreign newspaper, they read a newspaper in her native language is difficult.

If you are an adult, from developed countries, at least a high school or university degree, you can read a newspaper in the language. At this point, reading a newspaper in a foreign language is simply a matter of vocabulary.

Is it true there are different uses of language and style of writing. And the newspapers do not need style, which is different from other kinds of writing. But I just read and read and figure out them.

The problem most students, however, is that they do not read novels and short stories. Most students just need to accept that they need to exercise. It should be read and read, and stumble and fall, and read it again until you get it.

I did not develop a taste reading a newspaper in English until I was my late twenties. But by then I read countless books in English, and completed 16 years of education. Just started reading newspapers, because I had to read foreign press in college. Then I learned to read English newspapers of the first to help you understand the foreign press.

One problem specific to the Khmer students that there is so little written material available in Khmer. American students were exposed to newspapers, magazines, novels, books of poetry, plays, encyclopedias, journals, biographies, textbooks, comic books … Most Khmers did not have this exposure.

If you have not read in their own language, how to read them in a foreign language?

And I’m not just picking the Khmers. True, these styles of writing are not available in Khmer language, but even the Chinese, Korean or Vietnamese education, where these exist in many styles of writing, the students were not exposed to them. For example, Taiwanese student said that during the 12 years of primary school never written a single research paper.

But then they were asked to do that in the English, in their ESL classes.

currently I have a Thai friend named Em, who was studying in the United States. He’s been there three years studying English full time and still can not score high enough on the TOEFL exam in a US college. Thailand, he is a graduate of education but also in Thailand behind a Western education. And in the developed world, the US community colleges around the single easiest to enter schools of higher learning.

When Em finally passes the TOEFL and into college, the first two years of the basic requirements of a US bachelor’s degree, he will be entrusted with such a “Read George Orwell’s 1984, and to explain why the allegory of Communism, and how to apply to the Homeland Security Act in the United States. “

When foreign students stumble on a job like this, you can always blame the English level. But I am sure that the average graduate in most Asian countries could not do this job in his native tongue. Curriculum contains not only this type of analytical book reports.

When I taught in Korea, was a famous story circulating around the common ESL community. The Korean girl from a wealthy family, won a national English contest. He was tutored expensive home teacher, almost since birth, and her English level was exceptional. The prize is a scholarship to a prestigious boarding school in the United States, graduation, which is almost guaranteed admission to an Ivy League school.

seems to be one of the first orders she received her new school in America was to read and write a poem in the original analysis, and presentation in class. When the time came to the presentation, the students stood up and dutifully recited the poem, word, she is regurgitated exactly what the artist said poems in class. And it failed.

Korea, for his incredible memory and ability to accurately repeat what the teacher said he had kept the top of his class. But in America, he was asked to do much more than that; think and analyze, present and defend.

Most of the students think that the difficulty of dealing with foreign education, books, newspapers or conversations lies not in the vocabulary or language deficiencies. But once you have a fairly large vocabulary, the real problem is a combination of culture and practice.

Returning to the Khmer student and his problem reading English newspapers: To understand English newspapers would have to know all the news in the newspaper and concepts. The best way to deal with foreign newspapers, the beginning of that first read the news in their own language. You can read the same news in foreign-language newspapers. Also you can watch the news in their own language, then, to learn any language, and compare.

The translation is not only knowing the words. We need to know concepts. The first rule of translation that the written text in the target language should have the same meaning as it did in the source language. Even if the wording is, in the end, it is not even remotely like the original. No matter how good your language skills, it can not convey the meaning that does not recognize their own mother tongue.

Recently, newspapers ran stories in Asia in Taiwan Y2K crisis.
To understand the articles, you need to understand the original, global Y2K crisis first. The global Y2K problem, which is not taking part in Cambodia because Cambodia was not so few computers in 1999, was probably less than a hundred or so Internet access in Cambodia at the time. Then you would have to know and understand that Taiwan under its own calendar, the founder of the Republic of China in 1911, government offices and banks Taiwanese record events, according to the Republic of China calendar, which means you get money from an ATM machine today, the year will look 99.

Once you know and understand these facts, you will know that Taiwan will soon reach the first century, the year 2011 and looks at a mini-Y2K crisis, because of the year the date on the computer is only two digits.

The bulk of my readers do not live in Asia, and you might not have anything in the history of Taiwan or the Taiwanese date. But, any person with normal reading level had to understand my explanation. This is not necessarily required to have prior knowledge of reading about the current situation, but it is related to other things you know about, such as calendars and other otherY2K problems.

If you look at the above explanation, the vocabulary is fairly simple. Probably only a small handful of words, maybe five or six, which is an intermediate learner, I do not know. So, these words can be looked in the dictionary. European students as well as a broad base of education and experience that would be all the help you need. But students from educational systems in Asia, especially Cambodia to form what is now involved in global events such as the Olympic Games for the first time, it would be difficult, if not impossible, to understand this, or similar articles.

The key lies in the general education classes other than English. Students need to read constantly and easily integrated into the overall education in their own language first and then in English, otherwise they will never understand English newspapers or TV shows.

The reasons why the University of Oregon College of The Choice

[ad_1]

Although graduated from the University of Oregon and went back there to complete my master’s degree that is not the main reason for encouraging young people, the students also. The truth is that a few good reasons to choose the University of Oregon, and I want to share some of them here.

first location and a couple of things about the University Oregon to offer

The University of Oregon is located in Eugene, Oregon, a city of more than 100,000 people about 100 miles south of Portland, Oregon’s largest city. The climate is temperate, some day, year and a few days of freezing weather is extremely hot weather. Ocean beaches are a little more than an hour, and mountain lakes is about the same distance in the opposite direction. I-5 runs, the major highway along the east side of the city, the University is one of the most accessible colleges in the state.

The city of Eugene active community that offers something for everyone. If you are the outdoor type, Eugene is known for its miles and miles of bike paths, especially along the scenic banks of the beautiful Willamette River are.

During the year, running is often highlighted as Eugene claims that the Running Capital of the World. The Olympic Trials were held in athletics at the university last summer, so the title can be more than wishful thinking.

Art shows and music festivals abound. The Hult Center for Performing Arts in downtown Eugene is something going on every day of the week, and people come from all over the country (and some nearby states) to attend the annual Bach Festival there.

Eugene fine restaurants to suit every taste imaginable.

Lane Community College, superior Junior College just outside the city, and a wide technical program courses and college transfer classes for those who prefer to start a college education is a smaller institution. (See link to Lane Community College website for more information.)

[1945901million]

Every fall, the Eugene Celebration draws huge crowds who turn out rain or shine elect snail Queen of the current year — a rather dubious honor, but it’s all good fun. The festival continues in many other activities to capture the minds of those who are not interested in royalties and slug it is an experience that is guaranteed to leave looking forward to next year’s festival.

There are two major hospitals in the area, and healthcare readily available in almost all parts of the city. An award-winning newspaper, the Eugene Register Guard, effectively covering the news, local and national.

2. A little to the University of Oregon ‘s program, faculty, and size

well known for its excellence, the University of Oregon offers professional programs such as journalism, education, law, arts, and bad music, architecture, planning and public policy. This is a great liberal arts and sciences university and has been ranked by US News & World Report as one of America’s best colleges not only once but several times.

The faculty of the University of Oregon standout, often drawing a worthy scholar who taught at the best colleges in the nation as a whole. Enrollment of about 21,000 is expected for 2010.

According to the university’s website, seven governors of Oregon State University have been elected from among seven graduates of Oregon; Two members of faculty were Nobel laureates, Pulitzer Prize winner was ten, Rhodes had 19 scientists and 129 faculty members were Fulbright scholar. There are many other trainers also various eminent awards recipients.

The University of Oregon is already recognized as a higher percentage of students joining the Peace Corp, than any other college in the nation. More than 2,000 graduates joined.

3. Tuition and student housing in 2010

In today’s economic climate, the cost of tuition has become a very important consideration when choosing a college. The University of Oregon is about the same as other public colleges is the same size, with college costs. Tuition fees fall of 2010 is estimated to be about $ 7428 and another $ 1,050 for books and supplies. Students who need financial aid or scholarships are invited to visit the website that is currently available.

It is difficult to estimate the cost of housing, as so much depends on whether a student is planning to live in a dorm, share an apartment or a house off campus with a friend or live with members of their own family.

Upscale apartments sleep and immediate campus area are available for those who allow them to themselves, but there are also many rent off campus. Unless you have relatives you plan to stay in the area, your best bet is to contact the director of campus housing who needs the help that is available at the moment.

4. Transport all over the campus and the city

The University of Oregon is not closed to traffic, like so many colleges these days, but sometimes it can be hard to find a parking space. Students can apply for parking stickers, but the parking lots fill up quickly, because it works in order, first-served basis. If possible, students are advised to seek alternative transport such as bicycles or public transportation system, which stops the bus across the campus corner.

The public transport system in depth, I go to several nearby cities, such as travel around the area is fairly simple. Tokens can be purchased at discounted prices to students, and the printed schedules available so riders can plan ahead of time bus arrival and departure times, transfers, and routes that can not be running after a certain hour at night or on holidays.

5. Sport

Autzen Stadium, the university’s football facility, acknowledged to be one of the top ten throughout the United States and the only land recently broke a new, multi-million dollar basketball facility. The University of Oregon Track and Field program is known not only throughout the US but worldwide.

great athletes such as Olympic runner Steve Prefontaine, NFL stars Joey Harrington, alkyl Smith and Dan Fouts, track star, Alberto Salazar, and more It was all a lot of students of the University of Oregon. Nike CEO Phil Knight, was and is still very active in promoting and contributing to the sports program at the University of Oregon.

The University of Oregon does not focus on just one particular sport, but it does not offer fifteen different sports programs for men and women. Unlike many other college sports program at the University of Oregon is not only self-supporting but contributes approximately $ 5 million per year academic programs in other areas of the university.

6. Churches

Eugene, where are the University of Oregon, a number of churches to choose from, and within two Bible school commuting distances. In fact, Northwest Christian University is in contact with the University of Oregon, it would be easy to enroll in classes in both schools at the same time. Eugene Bible College, in connection with the Bible Standard Churches, just a short drive from the city center.

There are also good reasons to University of Oregon is the perfect place to continue the post-secondary education should be, but above enough to convince you that this is a second, and perhaps even a third look. A link to the University of Oregon website implies that you can learn the programs more depth whether or not it really is the best match for you.

Why are so educated, professional Iranian-American woman supporting Donald Trump

[ad_1]

was born in Tehran, I am glad that the United States legally. As a European college educated professional women, I am happy to support Donald Trump in the general election this fall. This is a great nation, and clean, yet ironic sign that it could be even better under the leadership Trump Orthodox facing the magnificent breadth of the Republican Party leader.

obvious why Democrats are opposed to Mr. Trump, but think about these issues. Why spend millions insider Republicans to derail his own party leader? Why is someone like millions of new voters lining up in record numbers in the general vicinity of polling? Answer – because of political insider pet special interests are threatened, period. Everything else is arguably deliberate dodge, reduction or distraction.

Mr. Trump is clearly not a politician. It’s part of the fun, un-PC appeal. The 40,000 foot level, Mr. Trump’s domestic and foreign policy to make good, common sense.

For example, why would the US accept

– The dollar half a trillion in annual trade imbalance with China
– Allow million US jobs go to China
– Spend the control of hundreds of millions China and others
– and you can borrow the money from China to pay federal budget deficit? Hello?

This is not inconceivably ignorant? Still, the two major party brain trust fingerprints all over those policies.

This is Donald Trump, who considers the

– Trade – China, Mexico, the Middle East oil, etc.
– The tragedy veterinarians mismanaged VA hospitals
– Backing for men and women in blue
– the assassination did not enforce US immigration laws
– Banning unvetted Muslims come to America after jihadist terrorist slipped in Europe and the US as “refugees”
– who else claims to have a plan, and claims that there is a need to pay off the staggering federal debt
– Visszahonosít billions of dollars in off-supported high taxes and job-killing regulations
– the divorce of job creation president of

Proof can be a “presidential” during a speech given AIPAC.

After listening to Senator Bernie Sanders of State Hillary Clinton earlier debate, it might be more polite than the GOP rivals, but it is obvious to all major political problems.

examples. What is genuinely passionate as Senator Sanders seems, how can we imagine a federal universal health care has more than 330 million, if the government can not run a health of millions of veterans?

Or Barack Hussein Obama admits that Chris Wallace on a Sunday morning show that the biggest mistake of his administration, “after which there is no timetable” for US intervention in Libya’s post-; to point directly to the then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Whatever you call them, they are now a large part of Libya. This failed policy has created the POTUS Obama / Hillary Clinton team. Thank you, Madam Secretary …

ICYMI as an Iranian-born professional woman, I agree with Mr. Trump that the transaction, which is Iran’s $ 150 billion incredibly flawed.

Democrats lurched down the left side. Communist and socialist system is a proven failure. Just look at Korea, the superiority of the free market vs. State socialism. North Korea is an economic basket case, while the vibrant south. The more you move toward America, socialism, it is a marvel of economy and people suffer?

Multiply that across the industry, a lot of Americans …

plenty of blame to go around. Forget the blame game! The driver needed to refocus on restoring America’s political and economic system. Let’s revive growth, security and upward mobility.

not build a multi-billion dollar empire, if you do not know how to deal with situations and people. Mr. Trump is supported by an objective review Smart America First principles, this is the land that will be bigger and safer again.
